Edward Tufte – Visual Thinking and Analytical Design (Marc Gamble)

At Dr. Larson’s suggestion, I visited Edward Tufte’s website and discovered the beautiful video on visual design by Inge Druckrey called Teaching to see.

Keller’s ARCS Model of Motivational Design (Marc Gamble)

Here is a link to John Keller’s Arcs Model of motivational design. I’ll have to say, I was not impressed the look and feel of his website, however the content is great. Thanks to Dr. Larson for the reference tonight.

Two videos from George Siemens on Connectivism (Marc Gamble)

It is a fairly long video, but interesting none-the-less.

And another VERY interesting one where he starts off with some comments about education.

Our Corporate workgroup needed a space to work collaboratively on the same document for our Final ID Project. We initially tried to import our Word document into Google Docs, but that really altered the document formatting to the point that it wouldn’t work for us. After a bit of research I found that Microsoft provides a similar service specifically for Word, and other Microsoft documents. It is called SkyDrive.

Initially it seemed that SkyDrive was only available for a fee, but with a little more digging I found that UTK provides us use of SkyDrive with out UTK ID. It has proved very helpful for our group. Here is a link to OIT’s page linking you to SkyDrive: https://oit.utk.edu/accounts/email/Pages/Volmail-(Students).aspx

Private Industry Action Map, Part Deux

Revised action map with the goal, 5 actions, activities, and team members assigned to each.

I ran across a helpful mind-mapping tool yesterday while working on our action map assignment for IT 570. Cacoo.com is a collaborative tool that allows individuals and groups to create charts that suit their needs. You can use it via the web and share it with whomever you choose. There is also a Cacoo app within Google Hangouts that would allow teams to collaboratively edit a chart or mind map in real time. Pretty Cool.

Here is a quick video from Cacoo.com.

Local Article on the Flipped Classroom

Adria Amos is a friend of our family and a columnist for the Knoxville News Sentinel. She recently wrote an article about a Knoxville teacher who is using the flipped classroom successfully: http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/oct/01/stem-teacher-uses-flip-method-to-put-classroom/. Enjoy.
